So, what *is* OMAPOD?

OMAPOD is Omaha’s Daily Morning Podcast & Newsletter.

🎙️PODCAST: Centered on relevant, impactful conversations with community leaders + common folks doing uncommon things. Incredible personalities telling unforgettable stories.

📰NEWSLETTER: Links + thinks to start your day smarter. A brief, curated collection of the best from all our local media + what’s blowing up on social media. The people + events you must know about.

We’re doing this because Omaha needs a stronger sense of connection almost as much as it needs more consistent weather. Like the sign says as you cross the bridge into town, this is indeed home to “The Good Life” - but why are we falling short of great? Together, we can celebrate our goodness while also pushing our community to strive towards greatness.

So, what *is* OMAPOD?

It’s a conversation about Omaha. All of it. With all of us.

We take neither your time nor your trust lightly - and we’ll always strive to be worthy of both.

Meet Your Host: Tony Bock

Omaha native Tony Bock is a writer and entrepreneur who specializes in using multiple mediums to creatively tell memorable stories about distinctive people, disruptive brands and distinguished organizations.

Tony was born in a Methodist Hospital birthing room and grew up in Northwest O. He went to St. James for grade school, then after graduation from Creighton Prep, went down to Lincoln for college at The University of Nebraska.

While working towards a degree from the Journalism school, he penned a popular column for the Daily Nebraskan that was often syndicated over the U-wire and hosted a weekly call-in talk show for KRNU.

He got a summer internship and made on-air appearances on Tom Becka and McGraw Milhaven’s KFAB talk show and became the youngest performer to ever host and feature on-stage at the Funny Bone Comedy Club in Omaha and at other clubs around the Midwest.

Tony got an internship at the Late Show with David Letterman which led to positions at CBS News, Sports and Entertainment after graduation. He wrote and produced for shows on Discovery, A&E, History, Comedy Central, Amazon Studios and ABC in New York City and Los Angeles.

While out in LA, Tony became a west coast correspondent for the Omaha World-Herald, writing a Living section feature on Kurt Andersen that blew up on twitter.

He’s performed stand-up comedy at the Gotham Comedy Club, Carolines, The Comic Strip, UCB East & West, The Comedy Store, The Improv and The Laugh Factory opening up for a diverse slate of headliners including Larry the Cable Guy, Jane Lynch, Sheryl Underwood, Louis CK, Chelsea Peretti, Jeff Garlin, Jenny Slate, Daniel Tosh, Pete Holmes and he co-hosted a comedy show in LA with Kate Berlant.

He returned home to Omaha, becoming an early UBER employee and successfully launching marketing and operations efforts across the region. He famously persuaded a United States Senator to become a driver-partner (for charity).

He’s also done branding and advertising projects as a formoneylancer (he doesn’t do it for free! #brandinggenius), creating campaigns for top dogs and underdogs, from international corporations to mom and pop shops of all varieties.

He’s passionate about telling Omaha’s story.
